Borders & Boundaries (ICAN)
19th & 20th May 2011, N. Ireland & Republic of Irelan
ArtRole CE Adalet R. Garmiany, is one of the speakers at Borders & Boundaries, a two-day conference examining the integration and ethics of socially engaged arts practice. The conference is hosted by the International Cultural Arts Network (ICAN), a project devised by The Playhouse, Derry-Londonderry in N. Ireland, in collaboration with Erik Ehn’s Arts in One World based in Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Borders & Boundaries is designed to bring together artists, community arts practitioners, health workers, community leaders and activists to discuss the ethics of socially engaged community arts practices. This conference will provide space for this diverse group to share and discuss the ethical trials and tribulations of arts practice in a divergent community setting. This forum will provide an international and local perspective on the issues of delivering this type of work, in order to assess outcomes in our search for a best practice methodology.
