ArtRole in collaboration with the College of Fine Art, Erbil, Kurdish Ministry of Higher Education and La MaMa Umbria International Residency Programme, organised an exchange visit for David Diamond to visit the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. David is an artist, theatre consultant, career coach for theatre artists, teacher and Adjunct Professor at the Columbia University, New York. Adalet R. Garmiany artist, curator and Chief Executive of ArtRole accompanied David.
In addition to discussing La MaMa, Umbria and his own work with artists on their career development, David talked
about Theatre Without Borders, a grass roots organisation, and its role locally and internationally as a socially engaged agency. David looked into possibilities of exchange programmes between Kurdistan-Iraq and the U.S.A Also, he planned to introduce Kurdish artists to Italian artists. Adalet visited Italy to take part in La MaMa Umbria International Residency Programme, presenting some of his documentary films, experimental music and performance at Spoleto Fringe Festival.
